Aryl halide are less reactive towards nucleophilic substitution reaction due to following reasons
Explanation:
Resonance - the electron pairs are in resonance with the pi electrons of the ring due to which the delocalisation of electrons occur making the cleavage of the bond difficult. no such effect are there in alkyl halide .
Hybridisation - the alkyl hallides hybridisation of carbon is sp3 and in aryl halide is sp2 . So there is more S character in Aryl halide due to which the bond strength(C-X)(X=any hallogen) increases and clevage becomes difficult.
