no when the displacement moves from orgin to left then the displacement is negative and it is known as retardution

● Answer-
No. A particle going to the left in standard x-y plane will have negative displacement.

● Extra information -
- As a convention, we take displacement on right side of the origin as positive and left side as negative.
- Also displacement towards upper side of origin is taken positive and down is negative.
