NEW DELHI: The government is looking at unique ways to make citizens aware of the coronavirus disease in India. In a new move, the government has decided to use your smartphone to inform more people about the disease. The Department of Telecom (DoT) has asked telecom operators to put coronavirus awareness messages as a caller tune instead of the regular ringtone. So, the next time you call someone, don’t be surprised to hear someone coughing followed by a message that alerts people about how to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease.

The new coronavirus awareness caller tune is, of course, free of cost but if someone has already subscribed to a caller tune separately then this message will not play.
