We can take certain steps to reduce the adverse impact of our actions on the enviroment. the measure of human resourece demand on nature and earth's capacity to regenrate them is called ecological footprint. We can take many steps by which we can reduce it. Some of them are mentioned below:

  • Turn of electrical equipment's when not in use. Always use energy efficient lights and bulbs.
  • Save as much water as you can turn off the tap while doing various activities such as shaving or brushing teeth. Collect the water which is used for washing fruits and vegetables utilize it to water plants.
  • Dry clothes naturally instead of using washing machines.
  • Always dispose off the garbage properly. Segregate the organic and plastic waste. Minimise the use of plastic.
  • Do not use napkins, paper or plastic plates.
  • Buy seasonal vegetables as it helps to reduce transport cost due to the import of non seasonal vegetables and fruits.
  • Always carry your bag for shopping instead of taking polybags.
  • Follow the concept of 3Rs. It stands for reduce, recycle and reuse. Reduce the use of various products like papers, reuse them and if possible recycle them. You can implement it by recycling plastic bottles also.
  • Giveaway unwanted books, toys and clothes to charities.
  • Getting your vehicles serviced at regular intervals to prevent air pollution. Do not honk unnecessarily, it causes sound pollution.
