This is because cones are more sensitive and can be used to observe details

Answer:

As compared to rods , the cones have higher visual acuity.

The reasons for this are as follows :

  • They are more sensitive to colour vision
  • Very few cones connect to 1 Bi-polar cell which in turn connect to 1 Ganglion Cell.
  • This helps in observing more details in any object.

For example , cones are present in Fovea Centralis. It's present in the posterior pole of the eyeball. It has only cones and no rods. Hence the light rays fall on the Fovea Centralis and the major details in the object are observed.

Visual acuity refers to the clarity with which a person can observe other objects.
