As for my grandmother being young and pretty,the thought was almost revolting.What does the statement means ?

This means that even though she was young and pretty she used to have the thoughts of fighting for small mistakes and show the people that she had done nothing and everyone were blaming her that she is physically disturbed and every time she revolts.

Dear friends, imagining the grandmother as young is odd.
We register the grandmothers' pictures as permanent in our minds and unable to imagine them as young. In the lesson, The Portrait of a Lady, the author Kushwanth Singh portrays his grandmother.
While he was portraying the beauty of her, he suddenly imagined her as a beautiful young lady. He was unable to imagine her in that form. That's why he mentioned it as 'thought was almost revolting'.
