This question is from the chapter The Address by Marga Minco. These lines show the conversation between the author and her mother. Here the author wants to know from her mother whether the household articles that her mother is giving to Mrs Dorling, she would return them later.  

The mother is replying to the author that id did not look nice to aske such a question from Mrs. Dorling. It was obvious that she would return the articles. She further explained that Mrs. Dorling was putting her life in danger also by carrying the articles. As she could be caught by Nazis.
