As Mark Ellon is getting ready for a meeting, the room goes dark. He fishes for a green shirt in his drawer. He wears only blue, green and white colors. His drawers have identical shirts in these colors: 28 blue, 25 green, and 13 white shirts. How many shirts did he throw on the floor to be a cent percent sure that he has a taken out a green shirt?

Given : 28 blue, 25 green, and 13 white shirts

To Find : How many shirts did he throw on the floor to be a cent percent sure that he has a taken out a green shirt

Solution:

To get green shirt he need to throw blue and white shirts

Blue = 28

White = 13

Hence 28 + 13 = 41 Shirts

 42 nd shirt  will be 100 % Green

Hence if he gets 42 shirts then there will 100 % 1 green shirt.

He wish to wear green shirt .

To Find :-

How many shirts did he throw on the floor to be a cent percent sure that he has a taken out a green shirt ?

Solution :-

Let us assume that,

→ first shirt he choose was = Blue .

→ Next also = Blue

In worst case , he choose all blue shirt first.

so,

→ Total shirt on floor = 28 (Blue) .

Now,

Let us assume that,

→ next shirt he choose was = white .

again,

In choose all white shirt next.

then,

→ Total shirt on the floor now = 28(Blue + 13(white) = 41 shirts .

now, when he choose next shirt it will be of green color .

therefore, we can conclude that, to be a cent percent sure that he has a taken out a green shirt he must throw 41 shirts on the floor .
