As Nitin rushed out of the school gate, he was thinking about his cousins, Ram and Shyam. They were expected to arrive in Mumbai by the morning flight from Delhi. They would be waiting for Nitin to reach home. It had been more than two years since Nitin last met his cousins and he couldn't wait to reach home, Just then, a big lorry went slowly past the school gate. It was travelling in his direction. Nitin could not resist the temptation of a short ride. He ran quickly and jumped on to the back of the lorry. "How lucky I am!' he thought, as he clung to the back. After taking a turn to the right, the lorry picked up speed. Houses and trees seemed to flash past Nitin. Now, Nitin was scared but he dared not let go. After a mile or two, the lorry slowed down suddenly to let a pedestrian cross. Nitin decided to take his chance now and drop to the ground, but before he could jump down, the lorry began to move again. He held on for a couple of minutes and then fell with a big thud. He felt a sharp pain up his leg. He tried to get up but collapsed on the ground and groaned in agony. A passer-by took him home. Nitin had a fracture and was in bed for two weeks. By the time he recovered, it was time for his cousins to go back to Delhi.
