As observed from the top 100m high light house from thr sea level the angles of depression of two ships are 30 & 45 . If one ship is exactly behind the other on the same side of the light house , find the distance between the two ships .

in triangle ADB

tan A = AB/DB

tan A =AB/CB+ DC

[100 +x ] / square root 3 = 100

100 + x = 100*root 3

x =100 *root 3 - 100

x = 100[root 3 -1]          {root 3 = 1.73}

x = 100 [1.73 -1]

x= 100 [0.73]

x = 73 m [approx}
