As part of Diwali dhamaka offer, a jeweller allows a discount of 15%. Even after giving the
discount, he makes a profit of 6.25%. Anil bought a gold chain which was marked at 5000.
Find the cost price of this chain for the jeweller.​

market price (m. p ) = 5000 Rs

discount ( d ) = 15 %

m . p x (100 - d) / 100 = s . p

5000 x 85/100 = 4250 Rs

s . p of gold chain is 4250 Rs

profit = 6.25 %

c . p x ( 100 + - p / L) / 100 = s . p

c . p x 106.25/100 = 4250

c. p = 4250 x 100 / 106 . 25

= 4000 Rs .
