A new beginning with Satrarambh at AMS, Delhi

15th April 2019, Pragati Maidan: Alma Memorial School, Delhi, organised their 20th Satrarambh Ceremony at the Nehru Auditorium on April 14th. The event commemorated the founding of the school on this day, by the Anglo-Indian Association. The event began with the candle-lighting ceremony, followed by the Principal's inspiring speech on hope and endeavour. The middle-school students presented a dance recital on the story of Ekalavya, which laurelled by the audience. This was followed by an important speech by the Chief Guest, Ms R. Sapru, a renowned psychiatrist and counselor. She talked about how people are growing apart from their own selves and turning into isolated individuals instead. She went on to say that in this race of seeking validation from the world, we are losing a part of our selves as well. Ms Sapru concluded her speech with two important ideas to keep in mind : to believe in one's self, and to strive for goodness and not greatness; for the latter welcomes pride and greed and not humility, which is very significant in today's world of throat-cutting competition. The event concluded with a musical session by the school choir, and the singing of the school prayer by the students and the faculty of the school.
