As technology advances, Earth as we know it is slipping away from us. Technology has caused
climate change, ozone depletion, loss of biodiversity, lack of safe drinking water among other
dangers. Excessive gases, even toxic ones, are released into the atmosphere. Inadequately
treated wastewater from industries is allowed to enter water bodies. We are chipping away
massive chunks of Earth's resources as technology commands greater and faster consumption.
It is curious to note that a plausible and paradoxical solution to this problem is through technology.
The double-edged sword of technology can reduce and reverse its harmful effects on the
environment. The approach here is two-fold, environmentally sustainable technology and
technology to save the environment The former includes alternative and renewable sources of
energy, energy-efficient appliances, recycled and upcycled products, etc. The latter is the
technology that is tailored to reverse the damage and improve the environment. A good example of
this is DAC (Direct Air Capture) technology. It captures carbon dioxide from the atmosphere which
can be altered structurally and used elsewhere. However the downside to this technology is its
high cost. It might also lead to an increase in emissions as people might think that all emissions
would be canceled by the technology. This in turn would lead to more consumption of fossil fuels.
It is important to remember that technology can be useful or harmful and what that will depend on
how we plan to use it. It would always change as per the priorities and demands of the human

Explanation:
In the given passage, the writer is telling the impacts on earth and the environment that is coming from advancement in technology. With more technology there is more production, more electricity generation, more burning of fossil fuel, this is turn where meets the needs of growing world population, in turn also leads to effects like global warming, ozone depletion, pollution in air and water. So it is important that to prioritise our operations and to use technology in consideration of preservation of environment
