However, you notice that herd mentality is taking over: people are being influenced by one another and
letting emotions dictate their behavior, instead of taking a rational approach. As Ramesh Batra of 10, Shastri

Sub : Herd mentality, a reason of anguish
Sir,
With concern and anguish I am forced to write this letter to you in hope of spreading awareness among the people of Mumbai.
The current ongoing lock down has created a great panic among the citizens of Mumbai. Terror has gripped the Mumbaikers as a result they are flocking to the shops to collect and store as much ration as possible.
Some are crowding at medical stores to horde medicines. This herd mentality is the greatest threat to the control measures of the pandemic.
The greatest villain in this pandemic is the direct contact between people. Covid-19 is a highly contagious virus. One must practise social distancing and self curfew to prevent contagion.
People should not step out of the house unless it is very essential or urgent. There is enough stock of food to feed our entire population thanks to all State Governments so there is no need to panic and crowd at groceries or food markets to horde items.
Awareness is a must but not Panic.
Stress management is essential along with positive thinking. A new, creative routine has to be planned full of indoor activities. This self quarantine period should not be treated as a crisis period but instead a golden opportunity to spend quality time at home.
I urge through the space of your esteemed daily to all the citizens of our country to stay safe to stay indoors.
Thanking you
Yours sincerely
Ramesh Batra
