As the day passes, why does our shadow increase or decrease in size?

During the day, the angle between the Earths surface and the sun changes. Since the Sun appears to rise in the East and set in the West, it has to move an angle of 180° hence changing its position and angle in relation to the Earths surface throughout the day.
So as the angle increases from 0 to 90, the shadows length would decrease until the Sun was directly above an object. Similarly, the opposite occurs from 90 to 180.
