a. The statement "What you see and what you hear depends a great deal on where you are standing. It also depends on what sort of person you are." basically means that, you can tell or show light about only those places or things or areas you have been through. Say for example, you saw something inappropriate thing in some place and when you explain it or tell it to someone, you not only mention that particular thing but also state your being in that place. Sure no body says you on the face, but it somewhere shows your personality. They don't exactly judge you, but they feel like they know you. Maybe it is a good thing maybe not so good.
