According to the people darkness is bad, while the light is good. Means there are a lot of people in the world who are bad, but the people with good mind distinguishes the bad people, in the same way the light distinguishes the darkness.
Darkness means for the energy that is lost, where the light is the source of energy. Thus, the sun provides energy to mankind, to the world with it's shining light. Thus, making the light much more powerful than the darkness.
Even sun shines sometimes like that we, the human even the animals, cannot look at the sun directly with bare eyes. As sun has the utmost power of light that cannot be tolerated by the darkness, that is distinguishes the night so easily.
