As you know, Light travels in a straight line. So why does a pencil look bent when we put it in a glass of water? Does light bend when we put pencil in water?

Answer:

Its due to the refraction of light rays in the water

Explanation:

yeah so, as the light enters the water it refracts i.e. it moves towards the normal ( normal is an imaginative perpendicular line where the light ray touches the water) (light moves towards the normal from rarer to denser medium). Therefore it appears that the pencil is a bit bent .

U should cnsider the ray as the pencil here.
