No, I am not in favor of the inclusion in the curricula as one of the subjects to be taught in tertiary. Any forceful, compulsory, or mandated reading of one ideology that appears to contradict another ideology, in my opinion, is improper. Even if there was no dispute, it should not be compulsory.

When the word "Spanish Friars" is uttered, a stereotype emerges, such as Padre Damaso.
- To some extent, this is correct, but not entirely. The Spanish friars were not all saints, and they were not without sin. They did, however, construct a nationwide network of schools, hospitals, and parishes. They were the first real scientists, educators, and medical professionals in the Philippines, and they taught and cared for the Filipinos. They researched the indigenous languages as well as the flora and wildlife of the Philippines. They shielded the locals from many of the atrocities perpetrated by Spanish authorities, who were largely riffraff banished to the Philippines from Spain.
- In the Philippines, the Spanish administration was not all awful. The Spaniards taught, cured, and cared for the indigenous people. This dictatorship produced numerous Filipino heroes, including the highly talented Jose Rizal. Rizal, Juan Luna, Emilio Aguinaldo, Marcelino del Pilar, Apolinario Mabini, Melchora Aquino, and Gabriela Silang, to name a few, are not among the local people in the United States, simply to demonstrate this point.
