Ascending order :

Ascending order means the order in which the terms are arranged in an order starting with smallest terms and ending with biggest terms.

Example :

Q . Arrange the following in ascending order :

6 , 7 , 27 , 29 , 1 , 8 , 38 , 20

Answer :

Firstly we will find the lowest number . That is the smallest term.

Among them 1 is the smallest ; so we will place it first.

Order we get : 1 , _____

Next ; the number more than one but the second smallest .

We get 6 being second smallest. So , we will place it after 1.

Order we get : 1 , 6

Third smallest is 7 . So , we will place it after 6.

Order : 1 , 6 , 7

Next ; fourth smallest term is 8 .

Continuing like this ; we get the ascending order as :

1 , 6 , 7 , 8 , 20 , 27 , 29 , 38

Note : Descending order is the order where the biggest terms are arranged at beginning and smallest at end.
