HELLO.....FRIEND!!

The cost of 1pen => x.

Cost of 1pencil => y.

Cost of 3pens & 5pencils.

=> 3x+5y=40

=> 3x+5y-40=0.

Cost of 4pencils & 5pens => 5x+4y=58.

=> 5x+4y-58=0.

:-)Hope it helps u.

Question is attached as image.

The algebraic expression will be A 3x + 5y = 40, 4x + 5y = 58.

Given - Number of pens, pencils and cost

Find - Algebraic expression

Solution - The question mentions, the cost of 1 pen is Rs. x and the cost of 1 pencil is Rs. y.

So, cost of 3 pens = 3x

Cost of 5 pens = 5x

Cost of 5 pencils = 5y

Cost of 4 pencils = 4y

So, forming equation as per first statement -

3x + 5y = 40

Forming equation as per second statement -

4x + 5y = 58

Thus, the algebraic expression will be A 3x + 5y = 40, 4x + 5y = 58.
