(a) The number of students in the school 504

(b) The number of packets of bread are supplied in the school 63 packets

(c) The number of packets of jams are supplied in the school 84 packets

(d) The number of packets of bread are supplied in the hospital 189 packets

Given : Ashish supplies bread and jams to a hospital and a school. Bread and jam are supplied in equal number of pieces. Bread comes in a bunch of 8 pieces and Jam comes in a pack of 6 pieces. On a particular day, Ashish has supplied x packets of bread and y packets of jam to the school. On the same day, Ashish has supplied 3x packets of bread along with sufficient packets of jam to hospital. It is known that the number of students in the school are between 500 and 550. ( Correction in the question )

To find : (a) The number of students in the school

(i) 508 (ii) 504 (iii) 512 (iv) 548

(b) The number of packets of bread are supplied in the school

(i) 63 packets (ii) 86 packets (iii) 65 packets (iv) 84 packets

(c) The number of packets of jams are supplied in the school

(i) 63 packets (ii) 86 packets (iii) 65 packets (iv) 84 packets

(i) 248 packets (ii) 252 packets(iii) 165 packets (iv) 288 packets

(d) The number of packets of bread are supplied in the hospital

(i) 189 packets (ii) 252 packets(iii) 165 packets (iv) 288 packets

(e) The number of packets of jams are supplied in the hospital

(i) 248 packets (ii) 252 packets (iii) 165 packets (iv) 288 packets

Solution :

Here it is given that Bread comes in a bunch of 8 pieces and Jam comes in a pack of 6 pieces

(a) We find the LCM of 8 & 6

We now prime factorise the given numbers

8 = 2 × 2 × 2

6 = 2 × 3

LCM of 8 & 6 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 3 = 24

Now multiple of 24 between 500 and 550 are 504 & 528

So the number of students in the school = 504

Hence the correct option is (ii) 504

(b) Since Bread comes in a bunch of 8 pieces

So the number of packets of bread are supplied in the school

\displaystyle \sf{ =  \frac{504}{8}   }

= 63

Hence the correct option is (i) 63 packets

(c) Since Jam comes in a pack of 6 pieces

So the number of packets of jams are supplied in the school

\displaystyle \sf{ =  \frac{504}{6}   }

= 84

Hence the correct option is (iv) 84 packets

(d) Since the number of breads supplied in hospital is 3 times the number of breads in the school

The number of packets of bread are supplied in the school 63 packets

So the number of packets of bread are supplied in the hospital

= 3 × 63 packets

= 189 packets

Hence the correct option is (i) 189 packets

(e) The number of packets of bread are supplied in the hospital = 189 packets

Number of bread pieces supplied in the hospital

= 189 × 8

= 1512

Since Jam comes in a pack of 6 pieces

So the number of packets of jams are supplied in the hospital

\displaystyle \sf{  =  \frac{1512}{6}  }

= 252

Hence the correct option is (ii) 252 packets
