Ashok invested $26400 on 12% , $50 shares, paying 15% dividend quoted at 20% premium. If his annual dividend is $600, calculate

I) the number of shares, he brought
2) his total investment
3) the percentage return on the shares.​

We have, Total income = Rs 2475

Clearly, annual income from 1 share = 12% of Rs25

= 12/100×25 = Rs 3.

i) Number of share brought by Ashok =

Total investment /Income from 1 share

= 2475/3

= 825

ii) Market value of each share

= Total investment in all shares / Number of share brought

= 26400/825

=Rs. 32
