After fighting in the Kalinga war , he became disappointed after witnessing the amount of people died and injured in the war .

He became influenced by the teachings of Buddha and therefore adapted Buddhism as his religion . He permanently gave up the thought of waging wars . He inspired people to follow Buddhism and adapt Peace , Love and Happiness in life .

He sent his army to different kingdoms to make friendship with them . He also went to different places related with Buddha . He supported Buddhist monasteries and started giving donations to poor people .

He also requested them to be happy and peaceful all the time !

Due to him , Buddhism spread over India and even abroad !!
