Age of Arif = y
According to question,
• Difference of their ages is 3
x - y = 3 ———(1)
• Sum of their ages is 21
x + y = 21 ———(2)
Add equations (1) and (2)
x - y + x + y = 3 + 21
2x = 24
x = 12
If x = 12 then from equation (1) y = 12 - 3 = 9
Age of Asif = 12
Age of Arif = 9
Age of Arif = y
According to question,
