a) 6 ( t - 2 ) = 18

ans: 6t - 12 = 18 (how do you get 12 here ??)
6t = 18 + 12
6t = 30

t = 30/6
t = 5

We get +12 as we are transposing -12 to right hand side from left hand side.

signs change while transposing.

Have a look on this :-

2x+4=10

=> 2x= 10-4 (+4 changes to -4)

=>2x = 6

=> x = 6 /2 = 3
