Ask your friends to pick up their pencils and press their both ends with equal force. 1) which end of the pencil causes more pain to the fingers. Why? 2) what is the relationship between surface area of the pencil and pressure experienced?

the sharpened end causes more pain to the finger because of less surface area and so the whole pressure applied to the pencil is concentrated just on the tip of the pencil and causes more pain than pain caused due to the other side having more surface area as the pressure is divided in larger surface area

hope it helps
