• Provides nutrients to the Fetus.

Also allow the fetus to transfer waste products to the mother's blood.

Placenta is a disc like structure which is embedded in the uterine wall.

It contain villi on the embryo side of the tissue. It's provides a large surface area for glucose and oxygen to pass from mother to embryo. The developing embryo will generate waste substance which is carried out through the placenta.
