Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi is my favourite exemplary leader. He played an important role in the Indian independence movement. He used non violent methods to protest against the British. His nonviolent civil disobedience led to India's independence and also inspired various movements for civil rights and freedom across the world.

He lived an exemplary life. He never spoke untruth. He used to say that more things are wrought by prayer than man can think of. He had firm faith in goodness and God. He lived an austere life. He taught the dignity of labour and himself participated in work. He raised the status of untouchables and gave them a new name 'Harijans'.

He taught the ideal of simple living and high thinking. He earned the title of Mahatma which means a high soul or the venerable one. He is lovingly called Bapu.  He is also known as the 'Father of the Nation'.
