Many government handouts are meant for rural people, which does not reach them. Female illiteracy is also a big problem. Smarphones and internet penetration have empowered villages with lack of quality education, to verify facts and stories before getting influenced. The problem is mainly due to supply chain inneficiencies and exploitation of the small farmer my traders. Technology can be used to monitor crop produce, drought, pest infestation etc in realtime. Supply chains must be strengthened and made seamless so that food distribution can take place from surplus regions to deficit regions in no time. Storage should be improved. Government must fix a minimum support price, and all produce by farmers must be weighed and paid accordingly. Indian farms are productive even today but they are exploited by politicians with help from traders and beureaucrats. Most rural transactions are cash based. So accounting is less. Small farmers are hit the most. There must be a uniform civil code to ensure population stabilisation. Smartphones can help spread awareness.
