asl speech on rash and reckless driving
Answers
Vehicles were invented for the convenience of man, but see their travesty; they have become a nuisance and a source of so much inconvenience for him! You must be wondering whether vehicles have gone amok. No! It is the foolish man who has gone berserk! Vehicles on their own don't knock anyone down. It is the careless, indifferent man behind the wheel that makes the vehicles behave violently. Driving without care for others' safety is the sole cause of accidents. Added to it is the poor implementation of the traffic rules by the incompetent traffic control department. As a result hundreds of people either get killed or maimed.
The teenagers can be seen zapping motor bikes, and cars on crowded roads. They neither have the driving sense, nor any care for others’ safety, which often results in accidents. Most of the news on media about accidents show teenagers fault. According to Road Accident Statistics India 1214 road crashes occur every day in India. 20 children under the age of 14 die every day due to road crashes in the country. One serious road accident in the country occurs every minute and 16 people die on Indian roads every hour.
Keeping in mind the shocking statistics, it becomes imperative to introduce learning road safety measures at schools. Schools must make road safety measures an integral part of curriculum. The traffic police must give training of road safety measures to students. They can be taken to road safety learning parks and trained there.
Parents must be included in the road safety programmes. They must be taught not to give vehicles to their children. The traffic police must organize vehicle training sessions in schools. The students must be given demonstrations on safe driving skills. The government must take stricter actions against the defaulters. People also, while driving must be more vigilant and ensure they follow all the safety rules meticulously.Answer:
Respected Principal, teachers and my dear fellow student friends. I wish you all a very good morning. I feel honoured and privileged to stand before you and share a few words on the topic of rash and reckless driving.
Road accidents are increasing due reckless driving by adults as well as youngsters and minors which causes accidents and results in injuries and lost of life.
Traffic rules prohibit driving by underaged children, overspeeding, driving on the wrong lane, parking in no parking zones, bikers without helmet, car drivers without driving license or without seat belts, driving under influence of intoxicants, etc. The penalties to the defaulters are clearly defined. It can be a fine or imprisonment or both. Overspeeding and ignoring traffic lights and driving under the influence of alcohol must be viewed seriously. There are several hit and run cases everyday. Reckless drivers hit other vehicles or pedestrians, the people walking on foot and the drivers fled from the scene with the victims bleeding, screaming in pain and calling for help. Those driving above the speed limits must be given exemplary punishments for neglecting rules and regulations of public roads. They are a menace and highly dangerous to public safety. Our traffic personnel must do their best to book them under relevant laws.
I think it is high time for us to impose heavier penalties on the offenders to deter rash and reckless driving.
Our traffic control personnel must be increased. Population and vehicle users are growing rapidly but the number of traffic police has more or less remained the same. Hence the need to recruit more traffic police.
It is also necessary to introduce road safety lessons in the text books of schools and colleges. Students must be taught the necessity of safe driving and learn to honour the sanctity of human life.
Further, no driving license should be issued to minors. No license should be given to anyone until they have passed from driving schools with satisfactory performance.
A reckless and irresponsible driver endangers his own life, the life of other drivers as well as passengers and pedestrians. We must remember that it is better to drive safely then to regret later.
Thank you.
