- A Spanish Benedictine monk named Pedro Ponce de León is credited with being the first to develop a formal sign language for the deaf. His plan to communicate through sign language was not wholly original.
- Advertising obviously takes inventiveness. One of the most inventive industries is it. And that's pretty much the only thing that unites advertising and artistic endeavours.
- Art has the quirk of having diverse meanings for different people. The diversity of purposes—or complete lack of purposes—in art is what makes it so beautiful. For that one particular goal, an artist might chisel away at perfection in one area of his mind. Another artist might wander endlessly, discovering subconsciously new universes.
- However, I've never seen a senior creative person defend a piece of work on the grounds of artistic merit. And that is one of the most important lessons a creative learns as he advances in the field. Poetics should only be utilised to emphasise and heighten the effect of what we are trying to express. And we don't say things for artistic purposes; we say things to help someone's business.
