                            Judicious use of the internet

The internet is a boon to the modern world but its benefits are limited in the way it is used. People especially students make the best benefit out of the internet. But they should use it in a judicial way.

- Use the internet only to gain information.

- Avoid spending too much time on the net.

- Avoid unnecessary sites on the internet.

- Do not expose yourself to scam websites.

- Do not enter sites which you are not allowed into.

Safe and judicious use of the internet paves the way for a good and healthy life.

Judicious use of internet         Using the internet is not good for students; because the internet is too interesting, so it makes students to spend many hours for using the internet instead of studying; because internet use can damage students brain; because the internet can cause some kinds of mental disorders. The first reason why the internet is not good for students is that the internet has lots of interesting things to do, and it takes many hours away from studying. In 1980s, it was almost impossible to spend many hours with the Internet. It is completely different in the 21st century. The Internet is widely used throughout the world, and the industry has massively grown. The Internet became the most interesting toy created by human. The Internet has become the necessity of life and has become our best friend. There are three most entertaining uses of the internet students likely spend their time. First, the most general use of the internet is internet surfing. By surfing the internet students can access many web sites on the internet and get knowledge they are interested in. For example, students do not need to stay in library for a whole day to do a research. With searching engines, students can easily and quickly have information what they look for. They also can shop, reserve, watch videos, or pay their bills through the Internet. It is proven that young people in North America spend considerable hours for surfing through the net. According to Nicholas Carr, an author of the book the Shallows, North American adults on average, surf the Internet twelve hours a week.During 2009. In contrast, the young people spend more than that. The average young people in North America spend more than nineteen hours a week (Carr, 86). Second, the trendiest use of the Internet is social networking services, what we commonly referred to as SNS. SNS is so popular in these days. The statistics indicated that somewhat of 88.7 million individuals visited Facebook during July of 2010 in America. Even a large number of businesses prefer to make their advertising campaign via Facebook, Twitter, or MySpace. SNS is not a messenger, but an open communication using web. There are various reasons why student like a social networking. It is psychologically easier to make a new friend from online than a stiff classroom. Through SNS, also, students can sort their friends into different categories and share their thoughts. In addition, students can express their inner emotions into their web space. Besides, they can cheer from friends” support. Third, the most powerful use of the internet is playing game. People follow an organized story or a plot in a console game, yet online game has a high-degree-of-freedom. For example, players can become a king, to be the most influential user. In addition, a process of creating a character online is very interesting. Users can give their character a name, race, hair style, and etc. Online game has its own community just like the real world. A relationship among online is more intimate and glutinous. The second reason why the internet is not good for students is that the internet can  negatively damage to students” brain. There are two possible brain damages from using the internet; using the internet can reduce memorization ability and cause students” brain to be exhausted. First, excessive internet use can reduce memorization ability. It is common knowledge that human”s brain is different from computers. A human”s brain has a limited space to store information. It is easily expected that if students receive excessive information, he/she cannot remember all the information he/she have had. George A. Miller, a psychologist at Princeton University, refers our memory capacity as, ”magic number seven.” When people make their friends to memorize a list of ten numbers, they usually remember five to nine. Besides, if the list becomes larger or more complicated, people don”t even remember five to nine.Today, students do not only learn knowledge from school but also have various types of information with the internet. They read and check daily news, email, weather, and even writings on somebody”s blogs. The amount of information, a student learns in a single day, is enormous because of the internet. Then, it would likely lead students to difficulty on remembering about ”valuable knowledge,” learned from school. Second, using the internet can cause students” brain to be exhausted. As I mentioned above, students cannot remember all knowledge they have learned, and forget some amount of knowledge. When students try to recall that knowledge forgotten, this process suppresses a their brain.”Memorizing seven items requires about 15 times the suppression needed to recall three.
