Given :-

The Simple Interest (S.I) = Rs 45

The Time (T) = 4 years

Rate of Interest (R) = 9% per annum

To be found :-

The Principal (P)

We can find,

Principal (P) using the Simple Interest (S.I) formula and

we have Simple interest (S.I), Time (T), and Rate of Interest (R)

So,

\bf Simple \:\:Interest = \frac{P\times R\times T}{100}

⇒ 45 = \bf \frac{P\times 9\times 4}{100}

⇒ 45 × 100 = \bf P\times 9\times 4   [transporting 100 to LHS]

⇒ 4500 ÷ 36 = P    [transporting 36 to LHS]

⇒ 125 = P

∴ Principal (P) = Rs 125

Hence,

The sum of of money or the Principal which was borrowed = Rs 125
