Assertion (A): A conductor has +3.2x10^(-19) C of charge. Reason(R): Conductor has gained 2 electrons. In above questions, (A) is assertion and (R) is reason. Select the appropriate answer. (a) Both A and B are true and R is the correct explanation of A (b) Both A and B are true and R is not the correct explanation of A (c) A is true but R is false (d) A is false but R is true *

Assertion:

A conductor has +3.2x10^(-19) C of charge.

Reason:

Conductor has gained 2 electrons.

Here , Assertion is true , but Reason is false !

But why???

  • First of all, when a body gains positive charge, it means that the body has lost electrons (not "gains electrons"). So, Reason is FALSE.

  • Now, number of electrons lost will be :

 \rm \: number \: of \: e =  \dfrac{3.2 \times  {10}^{ - 19} }{ - 1.6 \times  {10}^{ - 16} }

 \rm  \implies\: number \: of \: e = - 2

"-" or "negative" sign indicates electrons lost.

So, A is true but R is false !
