Assertion (A): A rectangular iron rod has been magnetised by keeping it in a uniform magnetic field.
Reason (R): A magnetic field can be produced by a straight current carrying wire.
a) Both A and R are true and R is the correct explanation of A.
b) Both A and R are true and R is not the correct explanation of A.

b) both A and R are true and R is not the correct explanation of A.

Explanation:

Yes, a rectangular iron rod can be magnetised, if it is inside the uniform magnetic field of magnets because the  magnetic domains of rectanhular iron rod takes the alignment of the magnetic field (produced by the magnets) as the orientation of magnets itself.

Yes, a magnetic field can be produced by a straight current carrying wire. a circular pattern is formed around the wire in perpendicular direction. We can see it by putting small magnets ( or small iron pieces) or by taking a compass  inside the magnetic field of wire.

'R' is not the correct answer because they both are based on different concept. 'A' is because of change in orientation of magnetic domains in iron rod and in 'R'  magnetic field is due to current in perpendicular direction in straight wire acccording to thumb rule.
