Assertion (A) is false and Reason (R) is true .

  • Virus is not a prokaryotic organism as it doesn't has a cell structure and other characters that define a living cell.
  • Virus is considered to be acellular organism and has no mention in any classification system . So, it is neither prokaryotic nor eukaryotic .
  • A virus is living only when it is inside a host cell where it can replicate and behave like living organisms. Though, outside the living host they are non-living .
  • Once a virus infects a living cell it takes over its machinery to replicate and eventually kills the host .
