a) Both A and R are true and R is the correct explanation of A

  • The reaction between metals and acids is always accompanied by liberation of hydrogen gas and formation of salt. Action of liberation is even faster when the metal is more reactive.
  • Some examples of such active metals are Zinc , Aluminium, Iron etc. Hence, the given assertion is true.
  • This reaction between acid and metals is a displacement reaction because there's a displacement of hydrogen from its place by a metal with lower reduction potential that is more reactive than hydrogen. Hydrogen is liberated during the reaction.
  • Hence, Both A and R are true and R is the correct explanation of A.
