Answer:

(a) Both A and R are true and R is the correct explanation of A.

Explanation:

Convex mirror are used as rear view mirror in vehicles because the field view of a convex mirror is large and it forms a diminished image so that the vehicles coming from behind can be observed. So, A and R are correct, and R is the correct explanation of A.

I hope it's help you!

thank you

Assertion(A): Convex mirror is used as a rear-view mirror in vehicles

Reason(R): Convex mirror gives a virtual, erect and diminished image of the object and

provides a wide range of view to the driver

  • Both A and and R are true and R is the correct explanation of A.

But how ?

Convex mirrors are diverging mirrors which are able to produce only virtual images.

  • Now, irrespective of the position of the object, convex mirrors always produce a a virtual, erect image smaller than the object.

  • That means the driver will be able to visualise the car behind him to be smaller and erect which will help him to visualise a greater field of view.

  • That is the main reason why convex mirrors are used as rear view mirrors in vehicles.

  • See the ray diagram for better understanding.

\star Hope It Helps.
