Answer:

Both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation.

As we know,

Earth is not perfectly spherical, which means the distance between a point on the surface of earth and the center of earth need not be same at every where.

i.e., Earth is in the shape of a ellipse.

Experimentally, It is found that the radius of earth at the poles are less than that at the equator. Also we know Acceleration due to gravity depends on the radius hence the g at the pole is maximum and minimum at the equator on the surface of the earth.

Some Information:

→  Acceleration due to gravity is the rate at which a body attracts an other object towards itself from a specific distance from the center of the body. It does not depend upon the mass of the body.

NOTE:

In vacuum, No matter how heavier two or more than two objects are they will fall at the same rate.

Answer:

Solution :

Both assertion and reason are correct and reason is Explanation of assertion

Explanation :

We know that the eart has the acceleration at poles maximum. We can also verify by activity.

Activity : Take a magnet mark one pole at North and one at South. Now, take some iron filling and place in near to magnet. Does you see anything? Obviously the iron filling attracted on pole.

Now,

Radius of earth is along poles and maximum along equatorial. Since equator is a big circle
