Assertion is false, but reason is true.
But why?
- Whenever white light is passed through a glass prism, the various components of white light undergo differential deviation.
- This leads to splitting of white light and a phenomenon called dispersion occurs.
- However, red light has the highest wavelength among all the other components and hence undergoes the least deviation. So, reason is true.
- But, due to its leas deviation, red light emerges farthest from the base of the prism. So, assertion is false.
