By BPT,

AD/DB = AE/EC

=> (7x - 4)/(3x + 4) = (5x - 2)/(3x)

=> 21x² - 15x = 15x² - 20x - 6x - 8

[By cross multiplication.]

By further simplifying,

6x² - 26x + 8 = 0

Factoring the LHS through middle term split method:

3x² - 13x + 4 = 0

=> 3x² - 12x - 1x + 4 = 0

=> 3x(x - 4) - 1(x - 4) = 0

=> (3x - 1)(x - 4) = 0

=> x = + 4, + 1/3.

The question says that x is 5 but x is either 1/3 cm or 4 cm. So, assertion or A is wrong.

But, the reason states the Thales theorem, which is correct.

Hence, we approached at: (D) Assertion is false but Reason is true.
