Answer:

Why do buses and trucks have double wheels on their rear side?

What made you believe in astrology? Can you share an experience that has come true and made you believe in it?

I do not usually share my life stories so openly on public platforms. But seeing how my life turned around due to some events, es

It is to increase the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating or GVWR. Each tire has a maximum weight that can legally be carried by that tire. The more tires on a given axle, the more weight that can be legally carried by that axle. Adding more axles with single side tires can be extremely costly with respect to lower fuel mileage, and increase in maintenance costs. A dual wheel setup allows for extra tires while only using one drive gear set, one axle brake set, etc.

Weight laws generally allow a maximum of 20,000 pounds for a single axle, but this number is limited to the capacity of the individual tires. Four tires on a single axle will allow the 20,000, but only two tires will usually max out at 12–13,000 pounds by tire limit. A dual drive axle configuration with dual tires per axle side will allow a combined 34,000 pounds per axle set.

In recent years a new tire technology, wide-based or “super” singles have allowed the same carrying capacity while reducing weight. The downside is that these new tires are very expensive, and cause increased maintenance difficulties with a blowout. A lightly loaded truck can limp to a tire facility on a flat dual tire, but is generally immobile with a single tire. They also seem to have slightly less traction than a set of duals in my own experience. They are becoming more common with the larger carriers as the price drops, and given that they offer a modest increase in fuel economy.
