Assertion: For any substance during the change of state, temperature remains constant. Reason: The heat supplied increases both the kinetic and potential energies of the particles.

If both assertion and reason are true and the reason is the correct explanation of the assertion.

If both assertion and reason are true but reason is not the correct explanation of the assertion.

If assertion is true but reason is false.

● When a substance is heated, the kinetic energy of the particles increases, and, as a result, temperature increases. But, during a change of state, the heat energy supplied to the substance is used to break the intermolecular forces between the particles so that the state can be changed. So, the temperature remains constant till a substance completely changes its state●
