ASSERTION: Higher the H⁺ ion concentration, lower is the pH value.

REASON: the pH of neutral solution =7, that of basic solution 7.

~A and R both are true and R is the correct explanation of A

~ A and R both are true but R is not the correct explanation of A

~A is true, R is false

Answer:

Assertion is true while reason is false.

Explanation:

pH : It is the negative logarithm of hydrogen ion concentration. It represents the acidic, basic, or neutral nature of a solution on a scale which range from 1 to 14.

  • Higher the hydrogen ion concentration of a solution, higher is its acidity. A highly acidic solution has low pH value. For a neutral solution, the pH is 7 and for a basic solution Ph ranges from 7.1 to 14. A basic solution has  hydroxyl ion in it, and an acidic solution has hydrogen ion in it.

So, from the above discussion, it is clear that assertion is true and reason is wrong.
