In the given question, both asserting and reason are correct but reason is not explaination of assertion.

Hydrogenation reactions refers to addition of hydrogen to unsaturated bonds. The reaction occurs in presence of nickel.

It is done on oils or fatty acids to convert fluids into solids or semi solids for to use them as edibles.

The reaction changes physical and chemical properties of product and obviously change in degree of saturation occurs.
