Because,

• The assertion is true because,the mathematical relationship between force and acceleration is :

Force = Mass × Acceleration

- Now,if the force is zero,then there are chances that either mass or acceleration is also zero.

- But,the mass of an object never becomes zero and that's why the acceleration will be zero for sure,if the force is zero.

• The reasoning is false because we discussed that the mathematical elaboration of the acceleration,does include force because force is the multiplication product of mass with the acceleration.
