1) Ammonium nitrate is an acidic salt, it ionizes in water on dissolving giving ammonium ion NH4+ and nitrate NO3-

2) Ammonium nitrate (NH4NO3) is a salt of strong acid and weak base (Ammonia gas). so has acidic character and the pH of ammonium nitrate solution is acidic.

Reason : solution of strong acid and weak base is acidic.

1) Ammonium nitrate solution is acidic and NH4NO3 is a acidicc salt of strong and in nitric acid (HNO3) and weak base (ammonia gas).

Therefore Both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is correct explanation of Assertion.
