Assertion is true but the reason is false.

  • Sodium is highly reactive and it can even react with the least amount of moisture present in the atmosphere.
  • To preserve the sodium from the atmospheric moisture the sodium is kept in the kerosene because kerosene doesn't react with the sodium.
  • So, the assertion is completely correct but the reason is incorrect for the given assertion.
  • The density of the kerosene is not necessary in any way in this case. The non reactive nature of kerosene with the sodium is the actual reason of the given assertion.
