assertion is true but the reason is false.it donot drop the blood pressure rather it raises the blood pressure of patient.excess of sodium intake causes vasoconstriction of blood vessels which increase the blood pressure on the wall of arteries resulting in rupture of blood vessel or heart diseases ,had harmful effects on eye and on kidney as it is not able to filter huge amount of blood(kidney failure may occur in extreme cases)
